I think you were all wrong in trying to interpret this act. Since the most developed part of the game is the lore, I dare to assume that this is a symbolic picture of the world of the game, where a man is a collective image of a revolutionary trying to the best of his ability to stop the destruction (burning) of his national foundations, culture, but dying in an unequal struggle. This makes the game a deep dramatic work, the value of which is hidden in such trifles, and does not float on the surface and is visible only to sophisticated connoisseurs of real art, but not to the broad masses.

Of course, if all gaming resources become joyful connoisseurs of mediocrity and begin to praise such rubbish as Homefront, it will benefit everyone. Or not? You, as a player, have the right to enjoy anything, but the publication should look at things at least a little critically. Game portals are not needed to relay someone’s opinion, for example yours.
As for the comparison with The Witcher, in the video review it is mentioned only twice, and both times – in the context of the “sandbox” mechanics (an open world with a bunch of mandatory and optional activities), which depends little on the genre and even less on the setting. You can replace “The Witcher” with GTAV in both phrases, and “bandit camps” with “golf and street racing” (oh, third-person shooter and first-person shooter are different genres, you can’t compare!).
I completely agree with the assessment. “Homefront: The Revolution” is pure “Prokhodnyak”.
The shortcomings that were in the review spoil the already average quality game. But I can add a couple of disadvantages:
1. riding a motorcycle, which is implemented very crookedly (the two-wheeled iron horse handles terribly and turns poorly);
2. shooting and weapons. She’s not in the game. The barrel is not felt, and it is very difficult to understand the recoil, and that same change of modification works extremely poorly (they could add a couple of guns (AK, Glock, RPK. )
3. bugs and glitches. There are a lot of them: either the bike will fall through the textures, then the textures will load, or enemies will spawn out of nowhere. And this is just a small part.
Depends on what is considered a “wanker”. If at all any game with an open world, then, of course, the third “Witcher”, Fallout: New Vegas, GTAV, Red Dead Redemption. And if we’re talking specifically about games about capturing towers and stuff like that, then Far Cry 3 caused me the least pain – I even liked clearing bases there using stealth.
The first part was good, in my opinion. I don’t like FPS myself, but the first Homefront is the first linear shooter after CoD MW that I really liked. There were high hopes for a continuation, but alas.
I watched the stream, and what struck me most was the customization from a common sense point of view. The character is holding a semi-automatic pistol in his hands. Suddenly he brings it to his eyes, with a slight movement of his hand he tears off the entire bolt frame (which is apparently attached solely by Jedi force), attaches a bandura in its place – voila, now it is a submachine gun with an automatic firing mode! 10/10

With your permission, I will compare it with the four, it came out later, and I remember it better. There were two types of quests: the miserable “Go clear the area from predators/mercenaries” and the secondary tasks of Hurk and Longinus, when they throw you into some new locations and offer, for example, sneaking in a snowstorm, picking up oxygen cylinders. And these are side effects! In HF, on the stream, it was quite clear that plot the mission consisted of jerking off all the icons on the map to fill the scale, that is, that collective crap that in FC was left to the conscience of your inner perfectionist, here is a prerequisite for progressing through the plot. Amazing. Next comes the open world. "Ubisoft" give you a huge and picturesque location, which has a variety of locations and a huge number of random encounters with both human enemies and various fauna. Opponents give identical boxes of houses with identical Koreans. You can travel around Kirat by all types of transport. There are a large number of cars and jet skis. There are even two types of air transport. HF offers a motorcycle. Both games are “action” games and not RPGs, but for some reason “Yubiki” can offer an extensive arsenal of various small arms, which also includes exotic representatives. Dambuster gives you four or five main guns, from which you can, thanks to incredibly absurd and idiotic mechanics, make other types of weapons. It’s even inconvenient to talk about the sounds and sensations of shooting. It’s stupid to discuss the controls, because without a gamepad aiming is poor, whatever it is, whatever it is. As if the result here is already disappointing for today’s patient. I won’t discuss the second paragraph of your post, because if this is trolling towards SG, then there is no point, and if you really think so, then as you know, of course, but I don’t agree, and I’m too lazy to write why exactly I don’t agree.
And the most interesting thing is that with the change of the bolt frame, the caliber of the weapon also changes (from 45 for a pistol, it becomes 9×19 for a submachine gun).
